Debating if this is #worththespike (it is).

Pro-tip: Foods with higher fat content (yup, this) often lead to delayed spikes in BG's ⬆️ ⬆️.

Unlike straight carbs, which are digested rather quickly, fat takes much longer to move through the digestive tract & get metabolized. This can result in higher numbers even up to 5-6 hours later. To combat this problem, I sometimes "stagger" my insulin. I take 1/2 my dose about 15 minutes before I indulge, & save the rest of my bolus for a rainy day (ie a couple hours later). It's not foolproof, but hey, that's T1D for ya...
