Hi, I'm Heather

I'll keep you updated on the latest in type 1 diabetes management... mostly through my own trials and errors :)

Luck be a diabetic

Luck be a diabetic

When I first got diagnosed with #diabetes, I would hear the same response, "What bad luck" or, the slightly more optimistic, "That sucks." Although intentions were all good, the sympathy irked me. Call this beginner's luck, but I see my diabetes as a sweet blessing in disguise. ๐Ÿ’๐ŸปPro-tip: As a #T1D, you're like one in a million! (*ok that's probably not an exact statistic, but we basically won the diabetic lottery making up just 5% of diabetes cases worldwide). Life may have dealt you a wild card, & yes it's very hard at times, but you can still have the upper hand. I look at my diagnosis as a reminder to take ownership of my health. Without diabetes, I'd likely have that second scoop๐Ÿฆor ignore the subtle signs of stress. Sure there are highs & lows ๐ŸŽข (see what I did there ๐Ÿ˜‰), but I now listen intuitively to my body with absolutely no excuses. So luck be a #diabetic tonight, today & every. single. day.
